About Information Live...

Information Live answers your questions using a live interactive reference session with a librarian. Library staff are available to assist you with reference questions, using the online catalog, or help you find a Web site. This service is designed to answer brief, factual questions or to suggest sources where you might find the answer. Most questions can be answered in less than 20 minutes. The librarian may simply give you the answer, or if you like, show you how to find the answer for future use.

Communication with the librarian is conducted using an online chat session. You may ask real time questions and see the response right away. In addition, library staff are able to send websites directly to your computer for you to review and provide feedback.

At certain times of the day, the librarian assisting you may not be from the Arlington Public Library staff; they may be staff from a partner library or a librarian from a firm we contract with to provide early morning, late evening, and weekend service.

At the end of your session, if you have provided your e-mail address, you will receive a transcript of the chat session and a list of Internet resources used.
