Information Live acknowledges that online security and privacy are important concerns to many of our users. No information gathered by Information Live is ever given to third parties.
Information Live requests information at login to assist staff in answering your question. You may use this service anonymously, however your email is required to receive a transcript of your session and your library card number may be required to access certain library resources.
By providing your e-mail address you will receive a transcript of your transaction including links to any Internet sites visited. This transcript is also sent to the staff member who assisted you, so that, if you connect again with a question, they are able to locate more information after your session has ended. The staff person may need to refer your question to a subject expert by forwarding the transcript to that person. Lastly, transcripts may be reviewed by supervisory staff to insure the quality of the service provided. Your e-mail address will not be used for any other purpose.
At the end of your session we ask you to complete an evaluation about the Information Live service. The evaluation form does not collect any personal information.
Some information is logged when you access our site, but that information is for statistical purposes only, and does not lead us, or anyone else, back to you. It is data about your browser (Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer, etc.), which operating system you use, and, in some cases, your Internet service provider's domain name (such as “aol.com”)—not any personally identifiable information about you or your system’s configuration.
Information Live collects IP addresses for the purposes of system administration and for authentication.
Information Live will send cookies to your computer for the purpose of accessing your previous user sessions as this may assist the staff member who helps you if your refer to a previous visit. Cookies are also used to maintain the connection between your computer and ours. We cannot and do not use them to obtain any personal data about you.
In the course of your transaction, Information Live staff may send you to other sites on the Internet. You should make yourself aware of the Privacy Policies and Data Collections practices of these sites. Information Live takes no responsibility or liability for the privacy policies or practices of other Internet sites.
